
Operational Detector Dog Capability Specialist

Job Description:
The Detector Dog Capability Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of the detector dog program within the department.
This involves engaging with various stakeholders to identify initiatives that align with pathway priorities and objectives, providing specialist technical advice and support to operational detector dog teams, and working with internal stakeholders to evolve the detector dog deployment capability and practice.
- Provide technical guidance and support to operational detector dog teams.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective use of detector dog teams.
- Develop and implement governance material for the detector dog program.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in training and deploying operational detector dog teams, as well as a sound knowledge of the department's biosecurity operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical advice and support to operational detector dog teams.
- Stakeholder engagement and initiative identification.
- Policy and governance development.
- Administrative functions related to the work of the detector dog capability team.
- Record maintenance in accordance with legislative requirements.
What We Are Looking For:
- Significant experience in detector dog training and deployment practices.
- Demonstrated experience with policy and governance documentation development.
- Sound knowledge of the department's biosecurity operations.
