About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Hearing Australia. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our cloud-based data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-volume data applications using Azure data stack.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and performance of our data platforms and systems infrastructure.
  • Translate business and analytics requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop and deploy ETL applications and scripts across various data sources and stores.
  • Practice disciplined software engineering principles, including automated testing, code reviews, and efficient coding practices.
  • Contribute to team and organizational standards.
  • Support strategically endorsed as-a-service solutions and related technologies.
  • Build, manage, and support different environments through DevOps.
  • Plan and manage cloud infrastructure requirements to meet quality and design standards.
  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and lead change.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data solutions.

Requirements

  • University degree in computer or software engineering.
  • Strong experience implementing and delivering data solutions using Azure data stack.
  • Expertise in data modeling, E2E solution designing, and component-level understanding.
  • 5+ years of experience with Azure data stack (ADL, ADF, Purview, Synapse, CI/CD).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with PySpark/PySQL.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with various DBMS and formats (distributed and otherwise).
  • Experience consuming and transforming from enterprise ecosystems.
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses and data migration between on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD and Azure DevOps.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time and batch processing data.
  • Experience with Agile, Jenkins, Git, continuous integration/deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with reporting tools – PowerBI and TM1.
  • Experience working in prioritizing between project work and operational work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Motivated self-starter, results-oriented, with strong communication and customer focus.
  • Flexible attitude, willing to work with a range of technologies and languages.
  • Constant learner, actively interested in updating skill sets and knowledge, following trends in the data community.
