McConnell Dowell Constructors is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Adelaide, South Australia.

This exciting opportunity will see you play a key role in the delivery of a major rail infrastructure project, focusing on traction power and overhead wiring systems. Reporting to the Rail Construction Manager, your expertise will ensure the effective coordination and control of project activities, including technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement, and quality control.

The Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance (TGSPA) has been awarded the contract for three main locations along the Glenelg Tram Line, replacing level crossings with tram overpasses and creating new public spaces beneath. This project will improve network efficiency and safety for all users, making it an ideal fit for experienced professionals like yourself.

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for construction and installation, program costs, safety, environmental, and quality aspects of traction power, overhead wiring, and associated converter station packages.
  • Maintain strong interfaces with engineering and design teams, as well as testing and commissioning activities.
  • Interpret engineering documents and drawings for field personnel.
  • You will be accountable for work packages from tendering phase to final Quality Assurance completion, ensuring defect liability period requirements are met.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field for this position.
  • Specialist experience in a senior project engineer role and a working knowledge of project management.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in rail systems project engineering with project management knowledge and understanding in a Rail Construction / Engineering environment.
  • Professional Engineering Membership (Engineers Australia, IRSE) is desirable.
  • Competent in planning and organising work schedules and delivering to timelines.
  • Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
  • Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others.
