Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Officer to join our team. As a key member of our research unit, you will be responsible for driving impactful research in bioinformatics, genomics or computational biology.

The successful candidate will have expertise in biostatistics, data analysis, visualization, and interpretation, as well as experience with experimental and study design. They will contribute to advancing our understanding of complex biological systems by providing expert advice on data processing and analysis, conducting high-quality research, collaborating on manuscripts, and participating in project planning.

To succeed in this role, you will possess a PhD in a quantitative discipline, such as bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or statistics, with research experience in statistical genomics, computational biology or bioinformatics. You will also have strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice on data processing, analysis, visualization, and interpretation.
  • Conducting high-quality research in genomics, bioinformatics, or computational biology, developing innovative analytical methodologies for researchers to utilize cutting-edge tools.
  • Collaborating on preparing manuscripts for publication, technical reports, and other research-related documents.
  • Participating in planning and development of research project goals.
  • Performing critical literature reviews, staying up-to-date with the latest findings.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a quantitative discipline (bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or statistics).
  • Research experience in statistical genomics, computational biology, or bioinformatics.
  • Expertise in analyzing large datasets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Unix-based systems, computing clusters, and modern scripting/programming languages (R).
  • Ability to produce high-quality results under tight deadlines, maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience leading and contributing to impactful research publications.
