Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Visiting Medical Officer to provide specialist services to patients at Gunnedah District Hospital. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to deliver high-quality patient care.

  • Responsibilities will include admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as determined by the health district.
  • The selected candidate will be required to attend during rostered work hours and while on-call, including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching and for emergency and routine care.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA is essential.
  • Fellowship of the RACGP/ ACRRM/RACP or overseas trained specialist pathways is also mandatory.
  • Recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice is required.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively communicate with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
  • Ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings is essential.
  • Previous leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities are highly regarded.
  • Continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance are also important.
  • Contributions to improving individual and societal health are highly valued.
