Flourish Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an NDIS Mental Health Officer in Western Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in improving access to and experience of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for individuals with psychosocial disability.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with mental health services in the Western Sydney Local Health District to identify individuals who are eligible for the NDIS and assist them in obtaining the necessary support.
- Collaborate with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, and other NDIS providers to ensure individuals are connected to the NDIS and the supports they require.
- Build the capacity of mental health service staff in the Western Sydney Local Health District to improve their understanding and implementation of the NDIS.
- Work across all aspects of the NDIS journey, including access, planning, plan implementation, and plan utilization.
- Qualifications in human services or a relevant field, and/or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
- Demonstrated experience of working with individuals with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilize the NDIS.
- Excellent understanding of the NDIS and eligibility criteria as it applies to psychosocial disability.
- Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of staff, including through mentoring.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully liaise with service providers to assist individuals with psychosocial disability in obtaining the necessary supports.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple sites and environments.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
- Current unrestricted Australian driver's license (P2 license acceptable).
- Vaccination Category A.
- Level 5 (SCHCADS) on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018).
