About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Maintenance Technician, supporting the delivery of sectional and team objectives through completing a range of assigned maintenance and functional activities across multiple disciplines.

As the public image of this section, this role is critical in maintaining Council's image as efficient, effective, professional and customer-focused.

The Park and Open Space Team provides delivery of maintenance activities related to Townsville's existing public infrastructure within parks, open spaces, including cemeteries. These areas provide a range of services including recreational and cultural activities for both residents and visitors across the Townsville Region.

This position will complete a range of assigned maintenance and functional activities which includes the maintenance and operation of Councils Irrigation systems. This includes but is not limited to maintaining sprinkler & sub-soil drip systems, pipework solenoid valves, minor wiring & cabling repairs & fault finding & the operation of Councils automated Irrinet control system. You will also drive manual light trucks which includes loading, unloading and tying down loads. You will need to be physically fit to perform the variety of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate Councils Irrigation systems, including sprinkler and sub-soil drip systems.
  • Perform minor repairs and fault finding on pipework, solenoid valves, wiring and cabling.
  • Operate the Councils automated Irrinet control system.
  • Drive manual light trucks, including loading, unloading and tying down loads.
