We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our maintenance team as a Maintenance Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and cleanliness of our facilities, grounds, and equipment. They will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, painting, and grounds-keeping duties.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and light repairs on structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Establish, monitor, and conduct preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for buildings, equipment, and grounds.
- Carry out carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical, and plumbing maintenance and repairs, such as fixing furniture, constructing shelves, installing switches, replacing plugs, and other basic appliance repairs.
- Collect and remove garbage and recyclable materials, ensuring safe disposal of hazardous waste.
- Clean external areas, including entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots using manual and power equipment, rakes, shovels, and other tools.
- Complete and maintain related records, such as maintenance logs and security incident reports.
- Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies manually and/or using aids like dollies and carts. Operate a motor vehicle to pick up and move goods and supplies.
- Develop a working knowledge of all site systems and equipment.
- Support tradespersons onsite as required.
- Respond to building emergencies when necessary.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members and work alone responsibly.
- Undertake assigned or emergency tasks, such as shoveling snow or power-washing.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Familiarity with building systems and ability to operate basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift minimum 40 lbs.
- Understanding of, and comfort in relating to, the diverse range of people we serve.
- Computer literacy to utilize work order software.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize daily maintenance tasks.
- Valid BC drivers' license required.
- WHMIS certification required.
Benefits:
- Part-time position with 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 4pm.
- $25.95 to $29.76 per hour, plus 5% in lieu of paid holidays.
- Accrued vacation pay at 6% or in accordance with length of service as per collective agreement.
- Eligibility for comprehensive benefits plan, including health and dental coverage, after completion of probationary period.
