Job Overview

The Teacher-Librarian is a dynamic and innovative specialist in the school with a dual role as both teacher and information specialist.

A key responsibility includes developing and implementing Middle School Library reading promotion and information literacy programs, as well as supporting whole-school library events and initiatives.

Applicants must hold professional Teacher-Librarian qualifications and work closely with teachers to enhance and enrich student learning in an integrated approach across the curriculum, as well as experience as a classroom teacher in a specialized subject area.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Teacher Librarian will combine teaching duties with managing the school library.
  • Developing information literacy, fluency, and critical awareness in students in the Middle School through close collaboration with teachers.
  • Maintaining curated resources for subjects areas via digital guides.
  • Planning effective learning experiences and assessments.
  • Modelling outstanding instructional practices.
  • Designing STEAM learning experiences for diverse learners.
  • Assisting teachers in integrating responsible AI technology use.
  • Remaining informed about educational trends and best practices.
Library Services
  • Optimizing library collections and services.
  • Fostering opportunities for student autonomy.
  • Providing expert support for students using research resources and technologies.
  • Ensuring library collections meet student needs.
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive library environment.
  • Contribute to collection development, organization, and curation.
Reading and Literature
  • Promoting reading culture and designing engaging programs.
  • Selecting literature that reflects diversity and promotes lifelong learning.
