Premier Steel Technologies Pty Ltd is a leading provider of custom roll forming solutions for various industries.

We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineering Specialist to join our team. This role will be based in Wetherill Park, NSW 2165 and will involve working on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of engineering projects involving Mild Steel, Zincalume, Galvanized and other materials.
  • Design and develop manufacturing process of rollforming machinery, tooling and specifications of mechanical components based on client requirements.
  • Study project requirements, plan projects, set up scope, and establish project management framework ensuring projects meet deadlines and budget.
  • Enhance design protocols for Colourbond and Hi-Tensile applications.
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance on the machines and related components to ascertain required functioning and performance standards.
  • Develop preventative maintenance strategies to ensure uninterrupted operation and optimal performance of rollforming machines, mechanical components and associated equipment.
  • Conduct feasibility assessment, identify and resolve mechanical issues related to manufacturing processing and rollforming machinery equipment.
  • Manage the operation and optimization of production machinery and its associated components.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to streamline workflows and meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Establish manufacturing specifications, select manufacturing methods by determining materials to be used, flow of materials, capacity of facilities and systems.
  • Monitor and identify opportunities for process improvement and implement engineering solutions to enhance productivity, quality, efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate any machine or system malfunctions.
  • Oversee the alignment, calibration, and commissioning of rollforming machinery and tooling to meet engineering standards.
  • Direct and inspect the installation of machines and related equipment during commissioning, oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet design specifications, customer expectations, and industry standards.
  • Act as the second-in-command to the Production Manager, leading daily operations and providing engineering leadership to the team.
  • Provide training and mentorship to operators on the effective use of rollforming equipment, ensuring adherence to engineering and safety standards.
  • Conduct performance tests and analysis of the machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations, engineering principles and industry standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to support engineering decisions and project advancements ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Prepare engineering reports and documentation on production metrics, machine performance, and maintenance activities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the company.

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending upon skills and experience.

About You:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Engineering or in related field.
  • 2+ Years mechanical engineering experience in Australia.
  • Knowledge of metal forming and fabrication industry.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSYS.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities from project conception to completion.
