About the Role

At Mayfield Industries, we're seeking an experienced Switchboard Design Specialist to join our team. This role involves designing complex switchboards, incorporating technical specifications and relevant industry standards.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Design Manager to deliver projects for clients across various industries, including mining, renewable energy, infrastructure, power generation & transmission, water & wastewater, heavy industry, and oil & gas.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and mentor a team of design engineers and drafters, assigning tasks and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  2. Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, deliver design solutions, and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction.
  3. Develop switchboard design concepts, layouts, and schematics, ensuring compliance with client needs and industry standards.
  4. Utilize CAD software to create detailed design drawings and review all documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  5. Manage the switchboard design process, ensuring timely completion of deliverables within budget, while coordinating with other departments for smooth integration.
  6. Provide technical expertise, guidance, and quality checks throughout the design process.
  7. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, implementing innovative design solutions for efficiency and performance improvements.
  8. Collaborate with production, procurement, and testing teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs and optimal material selection.
  9. Prepare and maintain accurate design documentation, including specifications, bills of materials, and technical reports.
  10. Identify risks or challenges during the design process and develop mitigation strategies.
  11. Provide training and mentorship to junior team members, promoting continuous growth and development.
Essential Requirements
  • Relevant degree or trade qualifications in a switchboard design or electrical engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of Switchboard design experience to AS/NZ standards.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in the use of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Strong product knowledge.
  • In-depth knowledge of LV Switchboards Okken, Moducell & custom build switchboards and Proficient in 3D modeling software e.g. Solidworks or Investor are desirable.
