Senior Lawyer or Special Counsel Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lawyer or Special Counsel to provide strategic legal advice and support to our clients in commercial real estate and property development law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Property Transactions: Assist with the sale, acquisition, and due diligence of significant property assets, including office, industrial, and retail properties.
  • Development Work: Collaborate on site acquisition, structuring, titling, body corporate, and land subdivision developments, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Provide regulatory guidance on planning, zoning, and strata-titling requirements, as well as volumetric titling and DA approval processes.
  • Leasing: Draft and negotiate complex Commercial, Office, Industrial, and Retail leases, including agreements for lease, major tenant leases, lease renewals, variations, and enforcement actions.
  • General Property Work: Negotiate contracts, manage settlement processes, and provide advisory services on property-related matters.
  • Client Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with major property investors, developers, and corporate clients, collaborating with the team to identify and mitigate legal risks.
  • Lead mentoring and supervising more junior members of the legal team, promoting professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial real estate and property development law.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high-quality, commercially-focused legal advice to clients.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance risk and commercial objectives.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Able to work autonomously and lead projects, while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Superior communication and stakeholder management skills.
