This is a 12-month fixed term position that offers a unique opportunity to establish the laboratory's ethos and have significant influence over its day-to-day operations.
The role holds a central position within the Biospecimen Laboratory team, and your influence will resonate throughout all facets of the team's operations. You will be responsible for providing high-level technical and operational support to ensure the effective operation of the NSW Regional Biospecimen Services laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the day-to-day biospecimen technical support services across Callaghan and HMRI based programs.
- Evaluate and maintain quality control of laboratory setups with stringent adherence to protocols.
- Provide specialist advice and general assistance to staff and students in relation to current biospecimen best practice.
- Offer direct operational support to the blood processing and biobanking teams.
Laboratory Operations:
You will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the laboratory's operations and culture. This will involve establishing processes, procedures, and protocols that align with industry standards and best practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a laboratory management or related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and protocols.
Working Environment:
The position will be located at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) and will be full-time. There is a possibility for extension beyond the initial 12-month term.
