Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at NRM. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on environmental planning and conservation.

About the Role

In this role, you will provide expert advice on environmental issues, collaborating with stakeholders to shape policy and strategy for sustainable development. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing environmental input into statutory planning applications and strategic initiatives;
  • Undertaking site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and planning permit conditions;
  • Assisting staff in construction and maintenance works to adhere to planning permit conditions and legislative requirements;
  • Responding to biodiversity and sustainability initiatives both internally and externally;
  • Developing and implementing Council policies and strategies related to environmental planning;
  • Actively participating in Council's Green Space Referral Group and regional Biodiversity Planners Network.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Natural Resource Management, or Environmental Science. Essential experience includes sound knowledge of the Victorian Planning System within local government, understanding of the Victorian Native Vegetation Clearing Guidelines, and ability to interpret town planning legislation and statutory planning processes.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development in a dynamic and supportive work environment.
