VFX Environment Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled VFX Environment Specialist to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in creating high-quality digital environments.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in multiple CG techniques, including modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, look development, matte painting, and compositing. They will be responsible for creating a range of high-quality digital environments within a tight timeline and with minimal supervision.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to establish shaders and lighting setups that look convincing and render efficiently. The ideal candidate will also have a good understanding of specialist tools and plugins like Photoshop, Speedtree, zBrush, Substance Painter, and Gaea.

In addition to their technical skills, we are looking for individuals who excel in communication and teamwork. They should be able to participate in rounds and attend dailies for their show and engage in creative conversations with show leads and artists from other departments.

Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality digital environments within tight deadlines
  • Establish shaders and lighting setups that look convincing and render efficiently
  • Source suitable reference materials for required assets
  • Participate in rounds and attend dailies for your show
  • Mentor more junior artists and assist them with their shots
  • Contribute to the company's inclusive and collaborative culture
  • Help develop and test tools and techniques before they are rolled out to shot artists
Requirements
  • Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven ability in multiple CG techniques
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new software
  • Fluent in software packages such as Nuke, 3dsMax, Maya, Houdini Solaris, and Renderman/Vray renderer
  • Good working knowledge of specialist tools and plugins
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 per year, based on industry standards and the candidate's level of experience.

This figure includes a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
