Animal Care and Pet Grooming Trainee

Are you passionate about the health and wellbeing of dogs? Do you have a strong desire to work and play with dogs all day? We're looking for a motivated and dedicated trainee to join our team at DOGUE Williamstown.
As a trainee, you'll have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in animal care and pet grooming. You'll work alongside our experienced team to learn the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this rewarding career.
Our traineeship program includes:
- Certificate III in Animal Care Services or Animal Care Services (Pet Grooming) with the Kangan Institute of TAFE
- Workplace Learning: study online while putting your theory into practice in a real-world setting
- A prerequisite pathway into further certificate studies, including dog training and veterinary nursing
- Flexible full-time and part-time options

- Bonus experience of running a dog business directly from the owner
- Employment opportunities available on completion – stay with us and transition into a junior boutique, animal attendant, or dog grooming role
As a trainee, you'll have the opportunity to learn and gain experience in various areas of our business, including:
- Customer service, reception, and assisting owners with the health and wellbeing of their dog in our boutique
- Dog handling, learning how to read a dog's body language and interact with all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Dog behaviour and socialisation, learning to effectively manage a doggy day care environment, monitor social interactions between dogs, provide enrichment activities, conduct health checks, and provide dog walking services throughout the day
- Grooming salon assistance, learning how to conduct grooming consultations with owners and groomers, learn about different breeds, coat types, grooming services, and how to wash, dry dogs, and provide assistance to a grooming team
- If enrolled in the Certificate III in Animal Care Services (Pet Grooming), learning how to groom dogs of all breeds and sizes to a high standard
