Quality Assurance Manager

NOV Australia is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the quality assurance effort for NOV Fluid Motion Solutions (Melbourne). The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the company towards achieving "best practice" quality systems, ensuring the management of the quality function across the site, and adhering to the requirements of accreditation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate the company's quality program, including quality management systems and procedures.
  • Determine, negotiate, and agree in-house quality procedures, standards, and/or specifications.
  • Perform internal quality audits to both regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the overall business strategy while maintaining a collaborative relationship with other departmental managers, Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Promote a positive and accountable culture in which employees are encouraged to engage and take lead in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Ensure the Quality Team reduces non-value-added activity in all processes by using lean/kaizen tools and techniques.
  • Compile quality control reports, create statistical process control metrics, manage non-conformity material discrepancy reports, and recommend continuous improvement activities.
  • Assess customer requirements and ensure these are met.
  • Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/quality.
  • Prepare monthly summaries of quality issues for presentation to the senior management team.
  • Monitor the ongoing performance and outputs of the quality process.
  • Work with Operations to apply pertinent Six Sigma Green/Black Belt attributes and other quality procedures appropriate to the business objectives.
  • Support Purchasing with annual business reviews of key suppliers.
  • Work with Engineering on new component introduction, alternative raw materials, tooling requirements, test plans, and product qualification requirements.
  • Communicate and share the company quality philosophy to key personnel in the company.
  • Keep senior management abreast of significant developments identified during quality control activities.

Qualifications
  • Six Sigma black belt (desirable).
Experience
  • Experience leading a quality function/team (essential).
  • Experience within a quality engineering or quality control position (desirable).
Skills, Training, or Special Knowledge
  • Understanding in Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T) (essential).
  • Use of Quality tools, such as: FMEA (design & Process), Process mapping (SIPOC) (essential).
  • Problem-solving; including root cause analysis, corrective action. (essential).
  • Use of Minitab statistical software (desirable).
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) (desirable).
  • APQP/PPAP (automotive/Aerospace or other industry) (desirable).
  • 8D problem-solving (desirable).
