The role of a pharmacy technician is pivotal in the healthcare sector, and this position will play a key part in ensuring the smooth dispensing of medications and supporting the Senior Pharmacist.
- Dispense medications to patients as prescribed by healthcare professionals within the designated region.
- Supply medications for patients as ordered on medication charts, adhering to established procedures.
- Prepare pre-packaged and extemporaneous items as required, under the supervision of a qualified pharmacist.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pharmacist to produce and manage dose administration aids such as Webster packs.
- Assist in creating Pharmacy Care Plans, patient counselling documents, and discharge planning.
- Provide Consumer Medication Information sheets to patients.
- Possess or be enrolled in a Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Hospital and Community Health Pharmacy Assistance) from a recognised institution.
- Possess or be enrolled in a Certificate III or IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support from a reputable educational institution.
- Hold an Associate Diploma from a recognised institution, or equivalent qualification relevant to the work of a pharmacy technician.
- Ensure registration/licences remain current and valid throughout employment.
