Mechanical Engineering Project Lead

SIMEC Mining, part of the GFG Alliance, is committed to leading the decarbonisation of the steel industry. We aim to become carbon neutral and are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
Job Description:- Provide technical support and governance to major growth studies and projects, reporting to the Principal Engineer Growth Studies.
- Develop mechanical discipline technical standards and standard specifications for project applications across the portfolio.
- Contribute to the development of project delivery systems to ensure consistent technical delivery of projects and application of standards.
- Establish and support technical risk analysis and Safety in Design processes for the project portfolio.
- Audit design work presented by vendors to ensure it meets specified scopes outlined in the contract.
- Assess design compliance with Australian Standards and SIMEC Mining's engineering and quality standards.
- Provide technical reviews of bids for engineering and construction services and equipment, making recommendations for selection.
- Review construction methodologies to ensure consistency with SIMEC Mining's expectations for safe construction and operating outcomes.
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Senior-level experience in mining, minerals processing, and metals industries.
- Chartered Professional Engineer accreditation from Engineers Australia.
- Experience with engineering information and data management systems.
- A solid understanding of technical project definition and safety in design practices.
- Report writing and other aspects of technical writing, such as manuals and procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
We offer an estimated salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including professional development opportunities and a competitive package.
