Ideal Candidate Profile

We are in search of an outstanding agricultural commodity strategist who possesses a strong enthusiasm for fundamental research and data analytics.

With a proven track record of generating and executing strategic market insights, you should have in-depth knowledge of one or more sectors within the global agricultural commodity landscape, including grains, oilseeds, soft commodities, and/or livestock.

The successful candidate will have experience in a physical trading environment, sell-side institution, or hedge fund, functioning as a fundamentally-driven strategist, forecasting intricate global supply and demand scenarios, and offering strategic advice on investment choices.

The Agricultural Commodity Strategist will oversee a team of analysts and collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers to formulate, investigate, and execute investment strategies. Exceptional strategists may have the opportunity to progress to senior leadership positions within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the fundamental research initiatives at Farrer Capital Management
  • Oversee the creation of comprehensive fundamental commodity supply and demand models
  • Direct the enhancement of analytical tools and processes while remaining informed about market research and insights
  • Manage the modeling of commodity data for targeted markets and conduct ad hoc analyses based on short-term market fluctuations
  • Ensure the highest standards of data quality and continuously assess and enhance data integrity
Candidate Requirements
About You
  • Previous experience in commodities, producing innovative research that supports investment decisions
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics
  • High academic achievement (GPA >3.8) or 1st Class Honors degree
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, particularly with Python, VBA, or Matlab
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and excel in a fast-paced team setting
  • A desire to work in an environment that values excellence
