Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join our team at Yarrow Place, a service of Health and Recovery, Trauma Safety Services (HaRTSS). This is a temporary contract until 30 June 2026.
Key Responsibilities- Provide flexible and intensive therapeutic and healthcare support to young people who are or were under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive.
- Provide direct expert care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and cultural leadership to multidisciplinary staff.
- Use expert cultural knowledge, skills, and experience in the application of direction, support, orientation, and education to other staff and lead and participate in projects, quality improvement activities and policy development within the practice setting.
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or equivalent.
- Registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging, establishing relationships, having informed discussions with Aboriginal young people (and their families and significant others) to enable their needs to be met.
- Extensive experience in providing assessment and interventions for Aboriginal young people experiencing complex health, social and emotional wellbeing difficulties.
- Experience in developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating preventative and/or therapeutic programs.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures including family and community obligations.
- Knowledge of historical and contemporary issues that affect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people, including barriers for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people in accessing services and programs.
- Knowledge of appropriate counselling and group work modalities for Aboriginal consumers.
- Relocation financial support may be negotiated, subject to eligibility.
- Salary package a range of benefits (including living expenses such as mortgage, rent, utility bills and groceries) up to $9,010 each FBT year + $2,650 for Meal Entertainment expenses each FBT year.
