We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Traded Risk technology team. As a key member of our Financial Markets Technology team, you will be responsible for managing the traded risk portfolio and team, driving technology strategy in the risk space, and delivering high-quality solutions to meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Risk Application Replacement Project: Lead the delivery of the in-flight Market Risk Application Replacement project, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Counterparty Credit Risk Systems Simplification: Develop and implement a strategy to simplify Counterparty Credit Risk systems, improving efficiency and reducing risk.
  • Platform Upgrades: Oversee the upgrade of multiple platforms, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Vendor Management: Manage existing platform suppliers and partners, ensuring optimal performance and value for money.
  • Engineering Excellence: Drive excellence in change execution and uplift engineering practices and delivery, ensuring high-quality solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of approximately 60, providing dedicated leadership and workforce strategy to ensure the team's success.
Requirements
  • Traded Risk Concepts: Strong understanding of traded risk concepts, including quantitative and mathematical aspects of risk, familiarity with key vendors in this space.
  • Markets and Asset Classes: Understanding of markets, asset classes, and their derivatives, including pricing, lifecycles, language, and conventions.
  • Engineering Expertise: Deep engineering expertise and ability to drive engineering excellence, with a strong track record of delivery excellence in markets and risk environments.
  • Leadership and People Skills: Exceptional leadership and people skills, with the ability to create an inclusive, diverse, cooperative, and collegiate team culture.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial acumen, with excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience: Extensive experience in traded risk systems, with prior experience working with financial systems in Investment/Institutional Banks.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen for FM products and business processes, as well as technology.
