
Cultural Liaison Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to drive our reconciliation journey. The successful person will be responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About the Role:
- To lead our efforts towards reconciliation and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, including Elders and community groups.
- To chair the Reconciliation Working Group and develop strategies for engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- To identify and develop an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations within our sphere of influence.
- To build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through community engagement.
- To engage with stakeholders to increase understanding and awareness of our Reconciliation Action Plan goals and objectives.
- To monitor and evaluate Reconciliation Action Plan progress, identify gaps, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- To assist with National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC cultural activities and provide leadership and advice to staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the development, delivery, and reporting of the Reconciliation Action Plan with the Reconciliation Working Group.
- Chairing the CBH's Reconciliation Working Group and leading the development and implementation of strategies for engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Identifying and developing an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations within our sphere of influence.
- Building and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through community engagement.
- Engaging with stakeholders to increase understanding and awareness of our Reconciliation Action Plan goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- A deep commitment to reconciliation and the promotion of positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Experience developing and implementing strategies for engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities or other stakeholders.
- A strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contemporary issues in Western Australia.
