We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished academic leader to join our team as the Chair of Counselling and Professor at the Australian College of Applied Professions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Counselling discipline at a national level, overseeing and guiding academic teachers to deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Provide strategic direction for the coordination of courses and units, utilising expertise to shape comprehensive and cutting-edge curricula.
  • Advise on academic programs and provide guidance to the discipline, ensuring compliance with governance and accreditation standards.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, empowering fellow educators to thrive in a dynamic and supportive environment.
  • Cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration, contribute to thought leadership, and engage in conferences to establish influential connections within the academic community.
  • Supervise and mentor honours and postgraduate students, guiding them towards academic success and professional growth.
  • Participate in committees, contributing valuable insights and expertise to shape policies and initiatives that drive positive change.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualifications, a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline, demonstrating expertise and specialisation in the field.
  • A proven track record of excellence in teaching, service, scholarship, and leadership, with a strong commitment to academic excellence.
  • Extensive experience in course governance and accreditation, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of self-accreditation processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development and authentic assessment, with the ability to design and implement effective educational programs.
  • Eligibility for membership in professional counselling organisations, such as PACFA or ACA.
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience in managing staff and leading teams in an effective and collaborative manner.
  • A deep passion for teaching and the development of future counselling and counselling academics.
