About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Duratec Australia. As a key member of our bidding team, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering tenders for major construction projects across Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate cost estimates, including cost escalation analysis, to ensure competitive pricing for our clients.
  • Compile accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities, ensuring that all necessary information is included.
  • Support the preparation and development of construction methodologies, programs, and submission documentation, working closely with our Pre-Contracts Manager and Estimating Leads.
  • Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates, taking into account all relevant factors.
  • Construct tender programs, ensuring that all necessary information is included and that deadlines are met.
  • Identify the need for additional information or clarification through RFIs to ensure complete tender documents.
  • Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness, ensuring that our estimates are accurate and competitive.
  • Review and validate subcontractor pricing across all service disciplines, ensuring that our estimates are accurate and competitive.
  • Deliver detailed tenders with traceability and provide support for pre-contracts and delivery.
  • Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings, ensuring that all team members are informed and aligned.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator who can bring a range of skills and qualifications to this role. You will have:

  • Experience in engineering and resource industries, with a strong understanding of construction methodologies and programs.
  • First principal experience with pricing internal labour to complete work scopes, ensuring that our estimates are accurate and competitive.
  • Prior experience in Defence sector, construction, process and non-process infrastructure, and water/wastewater treatment, although not essential.
  • Financial and commercial acumen, with a strong understanding of cost escalation analysis and material quantity take-offs.
  • Interpersonal skills, confident, professional and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines, ensuring that all necessary information is included and that deadlines are met.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar equivalent, demonstrating a strong understanding of construction methodologies and programs.
