Riverkeeper

The Water Conservation Specialist reports to and works closely with the Coordinator to undertake projects that maintain the health of the river and its foreshores.

The role is responsible for establishing and supporting a network of community volunteers, ambassadors, partner organisations and projects to assist the Council's vision for the Parramatta River.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake projects that remediate and maintain the health of the river and its foreshores;
• Establish and support a network of community volunteers, ambassadors, partner organisations and projects to assist the Council's vision for the Parramatta River;

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Planning;
• Substantial experience in working in natural resource management, community engagement and behaviour change programs or related roles;
• Sound understanding of natural resource management issues in the region and empathy with the local community;
• A genuine appreciation of and capability to incorporate indigenous ways of managing land and waterways;
• Demonstrated and well-developed written and oral communication skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
