About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our team at Haymes Paint. As a Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in providing exceptional service to our customers, ensuring their needs are met, and exceeding their expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and product solutions to customers, ensuring they receive the best possible service.
  • Tint paint products to customer specifications, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Make local deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Manage inventory, including receiving and stocking goods, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Process customer transactions, including taking orders and handling payments.
  • Replenish stock, including 15L paint drums, to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest colour forecasts, product releases, and industry trends, ensuring you are always knowledgeable and informed.
  • Assist with visual displays, store presentation, and housekeeping, maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment.
  • Comply with safe work practices, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for yourself and others.
About You
  • You hold a valid driver's license, enabling you to make local deliveries.
  • You possess strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • You have a genuine desire to deliver outstanding service, exceeding customer expectations.
  • You have previous experience working in a customer service role, with a proven track record of providing exceptional service.
  • You have experience with stock handling and merchandising, with the ability to manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • You are physically capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting 15L cans of paint.
  • You have knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems, with the ability to process transactions and comprehend tint percentages/ratios.
  • You possess numeracy skills, sufficient to perform POS transactions and comprehend financial data.
  • You are able to follow instructions, work effectively unsupervised, and solve problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • You have proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook, with the ability to effectively use these tools in a work environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Trade experience is highly regarded, with a strong understanding of the paint industry and its products.
  • Colour and design expertise, with the ability to provide expert advice and product solutions.
