Key Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced leader with AML/CTF Advisory expertise to join our Melbourne-based team.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the AML regulatory environment in Australia and demonstrated experience in managing and conducting a wide range of activities associated with application and compliance associated with AML.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge and business acumen, providing practical solutions and insights to clients. They will work closely with Partners & Directors and internal teams to identify and drive business development opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver AML services, including risk assessments, gap analysis, and independent reviews.
  • Design and conduct in-depth business process reviews of AML systems and controls, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in AML regulations, regulatory activities, and compliance approaches.
  • Oversee the continuous enhancement of audit, assurance, and risk management programs to ensure they reflect the latest changes in AML regulations.
  • Manage the response to AUSTRAC surveillance activities, including coordinating internal audit reviews and ensuring timely and accurate submission of required information and reports.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of internal audit, AML, and/or risk management experience, managing the delivery of AML services and solutions in a professional services environment or in a senior position in respect to AML compliance and assurance within a financial services organization.
  • Tertiary level qualification or equivalent. AML certification would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring team members to continually develop the team's skills and experience.
  • A collaborative and consultative approach to working with diverse stakeholders, with a proven ability to build effective relationships with senior client stakeholders.
