Job Description

The Town of Smiths Falls is a vibrant municipality with a population of 10,000.

We are seeking an Asset Management Specialist to support strategic planning by ensuring accurate data collection, lifecycle analysis, and compliance with standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Implement and maintain the Town's Asset Management Plan and policies.
  2. Manage and analyze asset and geomatics databases; perform lifecycle and condition assessments.
  3. Conduct field inspections and maintain asset registry using GIS and Excel.
  4. Develop best practices for asset rehabilitation, renewal, and performance measurement.
  5. Collaborate with departments to establish risk management and service level standards.
  6. Prepare reports and recommendations for senior staff.
  7. Assist in capital budget preparation and long-term financial planning.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in finance, accounting, GIS, civil engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in municipal finance or engineering, focusing on capital infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in GIS technologies, spatial database modeling, and asset management software.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of municipal practices, engineering standards, and legislation.
