Chef Opportunity in Remote Mining Village

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our catering team at a remote mining village in Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for food preparation, presentation, and adherence to dietary requirements.

The role involves:

  • Food preparation and presentation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and functions
  • Ensuring all meals meet dietary requirements and adhering to legislated food hygiene and safety practices
  • Assisting with stock ordering, rotation, and stocktaking
  • Maintaining a clean kitchen, equipment, and utensils
  • Providing fast, effective service with a friendly attitude
  • Collaborating with the broader team as needed

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in all aspects of kitchen operations and food service, preferably in a remote environment
  • Manual drivers' license (preferred) and forklift license (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to friendly, professional customer service
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
  • Resourcefulness, resilience, and creative thinking
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and time-sensitive environment
  • Pride in personal appearance and hygiene
