The position we are seeking to fill is a challenging yet rewarding role within our team that focuses on family preservation and reunification. Our approach involves working with families in their homes, providing intensive and wraparound services to support them through difficult times.
This role is based in the Northern Metropolitan Melbourne Region, covering the Hume Merri-bek area, and will be part of the Family & Community Services program. The Victorian Family Preservation and Reunification Program, funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, aims to prevent children from entering or re-entering care or reunifying them with their parents.
We seek an experienced practitioner who can work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team, bringing innovative solutions to complex family issues. This role requires the ability to think critically, make sound judgments, and work effectively under pressure.
About the Role:This is a full-time opportunity (38 hours per week) based at our Broadmeadows Office. The position reports directly to the FPR Practice Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities:- To work collaboratively with families, assessing their needs and developing tailored intervention plans.
- To provide intensive and wraparound services, supporting families to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes.
- To maintain accurate records, report progress, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- To participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities, ensuring best practice in family preservation and reunification.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- Significant work experience in a relevant field, supporting families with complex needs.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and intergenerational disadvantage.
- Proven ability to work flexibly, managing competing demands and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- An understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, with the ability to work respectfully and sensitively with Aboriginal families.
We offer a competitive salary package, including hourly rates of $51 to $53.31, dependent on qualification and experience. Additionally, we provide:
- Paid training, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Sanctuary, and Cultural Awareness.
- Fitness Passport, a discounted workplace health and fitness program.
- Employee Assistance Program, offering free access to counseling and coaching services.
- A supportive environment, with regular meetings and opportunities for growth and development.
We value diversity and respect the dignity of all individuals. Every person has the right to be safe and treated justly. We strive to create a culturally safe and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, and communities.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply for this position.
