As a Senior Insurance Underwriter with Suncorp Group, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company's commercial portfolio strategy. The estimated salary for this position is around $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

This permanent full-time opportunity involves working with senior underwriters, technical specialists, and practice leaders to make complex decisions and provide advice and feedback. You will be based in Adelaide and have flexible working conditions.

The role of Underwriter Profin performs day-to-day operational underwriting functions within a state underwriting team through the underwriting and negotiating of individual policy renewals, new business, and mid-term policy adjustments in accordance with the Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA). This crucial role contributes to the execution of the Commercial Portfolio Strategy by applying product, pricing, customer retention, and acquisition strategies to deliver the targeted Insurance Trading Result (ITR) for the Product(s).

Key Responsibilities
  1. Underwrite new and renewal business within the scope of individual Delegated Underwriting Authority to achieve strategic and financial goals of the Commercial Portfolio strategy
  2. Conduct renewal reviews to ensure business is re-underwritten in alignment with current underwriting, selection, and pricing guidelines and implement corrective or remedial actions when appropriate
  3. Underwrite new business in alignment with current underwriting, selection, and pricing guidelines
  4. Monitor ongoing policy performance to identify opportunities for remedial or corrective underwriting
  5. Underwrite using approved tools and in complete alignment with agreed underwriting processes and guidelines
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Insurance Market is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to influence in the commercial Broker and Adviser insurance market to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Ability to determine referral or escalation of risks outside of appetite
  • Ability to underwrite in accordance with Risk Appetite, Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA), Underwriting Guidelines, and Business Licence
  • Knowledge of relevant General Insurance practices and policies
