Job Role: Automation Specialist

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to contribute to the development of packaging systems across Australia. The ideal candidate will utilize their programming skills to implement intelligent automation solutions, ensuring high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the automation lifecycle: Design, develop, implement, and test automation systems for machinery.
  • Solve complex challenges: Troubleshoot automation issues, working closely with customers and internal teams to deliver timely solutions.
  • Collaborate with design and project engineers, fitters, service technicians, and stakeholders to ensure systems are delivered on time and meet specifications.
  • Maintain quality high and risk low: Ensure all solutions meet relevant safety and regulatory standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and support internal teams with training and mentoring when required.
  • Support out-of-hours needs: Participate in our automation support roster, offering remote assistance to customers as needed.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years' experience in automation projects.
  • Proven skills in PLC/HMI development and programming, including expertise in Rockwell and ABB.
  • Experience delivering automation projects in packaging or manufacturing environments.
  • Solid understanding of control systems, software, electrical schematics, and safety integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of quality, compliance, and documentation.
  • Desirable qualifications include customer commissioning and field support experience, as well as familiarity with relevant standards such as ISO and WHS requirements.
