Release Manager

A Release Manager oversees the planning, coordination and execution of software releases.

The role involves communicating with stakeholders to ensure successful deployment, managing release schedules, coordinating testing, ensuring quality control, and identifying areas for process improvement. An ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Release Management, experience leading cross-functional teams, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This role is responsible for streamlining release processes, building towards a single monthly release, and collaborating with various stakeholders to define comprehensive key performance indicators (KPIs). The right person should be comfortable presenting at various forums and to senior stakeholders, passionate about Release Engineering, and enthusiastic about cloud efficiency enhancements across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate release activities across development, testing, and deployment environments
  • Plan and execute release schedules to meet business objectives
  • Communicate release information to stakeholders and team members
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact release timelines or quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement release readiness criteria
  • Develop and maintain release processes and procedures to ensure consistency and quality
  • Monitor and report on release metrics and KPIs to measure performance

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in software release management
  • Strong technical knowledge of software development lifecycle and continuous delivery/integration principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Experience working in regulated environments and with software version control, branching strategy, and dependency management
