Job Summary:

The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and reviewing a wide range of agreements related to production, distribution, and exploitation of scripted programming. This will include development and co-development agreements, format option and license agreements, book option agreements, commissioning, program license agreements, and production and co-production or co-finance agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiating and drafting agreements with production partners, talent, and other contributors
  • Advising on production subsidies, tax offsets, and other incentives available in Australia
  • Assisting with the assessment of potential production partners and third-party production services providers
  • Finalizing production and finance agreements, including taking security and dealing with completion bonds
  • Working closely with the broader Warner Bros. Discovery Legal team on legal and business matters impacting production in Australia
Requirements:
  • 5+ years post-qualification experience in a similar role
  • Experience negotiating and drafting scripted development and production agreements
  • Knowledge of terms of trade and other requirements of Screen Australia and State screen agencies
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet conflicting deadlines
