We are seeking a skilled Associate or Senior Associate to enhance our dynamic Employment and Labour team in Canberra. This role offers a unique chance to collaborate with our esteemed Partner, Bede Gahan, and to play a pivotal role in a thriving practice. Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for employers in cases of unfair dismissal, discrimination, and general protection claims.
  • Provide strategic advice on enterprise bargaining and its implementation.
  • Represent employers in industrial disputes.
  • Offer guidance on disciplinary actions and performance management.
  • Advise on workplace bullying and harassment, including conducting investigations.
  • Consult on organizational restructures, commercial transactions, and business transfer issues.
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members.
  • Engage in business development and marketing activities, including client training, external seminars, and preparation of tender documents.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in a respected employment law practice.
  • Experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Ability to engage directly with clients and collaborate effectively within the NRFA network.
  • Exceptional written, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead teams and supervise junior lawyers.
