About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Safeguarding Lead to join our team, responsible for ensuring our organisation meets and maintains NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS), Department of Social Services (DSS), and other mandatory registration requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS legislation, and National Standards for Disability Services.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure Scope meets all accreditation standards and successfully navigates external compliance audits.
- Undertake and coordinate a program of self-assessments against relevant Standards, such as NSDS, NDIS Practice Standards, ISO22000, and HACCP.
- Recognise deficiencies from relevant Practice Standards self-assessments and ensure a plan is created and executed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to address and rectify the identified gaps.
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Risk, Compliance, and Assurance Team to ensure standards compliance and audit preparedness.
- Work with the Document Control Team to keep the Scope Quality Management System compliant with relevant standards and laws.
- Partner with the Quality Team to ensure service delivery is aware of and complies with applicable standards and legislation.
- Promote and lead a quality culture, empowering and resourcing staff to appreciate that quality is about the people Scope supports, not compliance alone.
- Previous experience in a compliance/safeguarding role, with a sound understanding of quality management systems, compliance principles, quality frameworks, internal auditing practice, and the ability to coordinate corrective action plans.
- Experience in Community and/or NFP organisations (highly regarded)
- Sound understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment for disability support services or similar in health or aged care.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the NDIS and Quality and Safeguarding Framework, the NSDS, human rights, and other person-centred approaches.
- Ability to think and work strategically through working collaboratively with other leaders to align the organisation's overall strategy.
