The role of Procurement Specialist for Strategic Sourcing involves supporting an experienced team with the delivery of strategic procurement and sourcing activities within allocated portfolios. This dynamic and complex environment requires customer service, risk management, and obtaining value-for-money outcomes to be paramount.

This role entails contributing to the implementation of Supply Chain Management (SCM) strategies and sourcing plans that achieve procurement goals and objectives. The execution of full cycle low/medium risk strategic procurements as assigned by the Procurement Manager is also a key responsibility. Support for sourcing and contract management activities including supplier qualification and management across key procurement categories is necessary.

Validation of demands and predicted spend in relation to project requirements informs strategies, sourcing, and contract management. Administration of purchase order deliverables and process vendor claims for payment are additional responsibilities. Developing savings initiatives to improve overall efficiencies demonstrating value for money, sustainable decisions, and support continuous improvement objectives is crucial.

This role requires a strong understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, contracts law, risk management, and best practices. Exceptional written communication skills, strong negotiating and influencing skills, stakeholder and supplier management skills, and commercial acumen are essential.

A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a relevant Procurement role within the defence, manufacturing, or resource sector is required. Good knowledge of MRP systems (IFS desirable) and Microsoft Office products is also necessary. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in business, supply chain, law, or engineering, membership of, or eligibility for membership of, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Australia, and international procurement experience are highly desirable.

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and might require an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
