Urgent Care Physician

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Urgent Care Physician to join our medical team in Cairns, Queensland.
About the Opportunity- A full-time or part-time position is available
- Locum work may also be considered
The clinic provides short-term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life-threatening. Our facilities include:
- Dedicated Nursing and Administration support
- Private urgent care triage room
- Dedicated treatment beds
- Private physician consult room
- Designed for ambulance and low-mobility access
- Security and duress alarm systems
- A designated resuscitation area equipped with defibrillator, airway management equipment, ECG machine, mobile bed, IV fluids, and emergency medications
- A dedicated fracture and plastering treatment area
- On-site parking
- Shared facilities including meeting rooms and tea rooms
We can treat problems such as:
- Minor illnesses (respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary tract infections, STIs)
- Minor injuries including fractures, lacerations, eye injuries, burns
- Wound management (gluing, suturing, dressings)
- Incision and drainage of abscesses
- Basic fracture management with backslabs and plasters
- IV cannula insertion for antibiotics and rehydration
- Urinary catheter management and changes
- Foreign body removal from ear and nose
- Onsite imaging and ultrasound (coming soon)
- Onsite pathology
The clinic operates extended hours: weekdays 8am – 10pm, weekends 9am – 6pm.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Strong background in general practice with a passion for patient-centered care
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Specialist General Practitioner
- Experience in urgent care or emergency medicine
- FRACGP or FACRRM
- Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine (preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) (preferred)
Eligible candidates may receive financial incentives through Health Workforce Queensland. The position may also qualify for professional development scholarships or bursaries.
