Application Architect

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to create exceptional and detailed architectural application design and provide thought leadership to enable delivery teams to provide exceptional client engagement and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop architectural applications for new deals and major change requests in existing deals.
2. Create an enterprise-wide architecture that ensures systems are scalable, reliable, and manageable.
3. Manage application assets and direct the development efforts within an enterprise to improve solution delivery and agility.
4. Guide the construction and assembly of application components and services to support solution architecture and application development.
5. Maintain the frameworks and artefacts used in the implementation of an application, with reference to the systematic architecture of the overall application portfolio.
6. Responsible for application architecture paradigms such as service-oriented architecture (SOA) and microservices, ensuring business achieves agility and scalability for a faster time to market.
7. Provide solutions for RFPs received from clients and ensure overall design assurance.
8. Develop a direction to manage the portfolio of to-be-solutions, including systems, shared infrastructure services, and applications, to better match business outcome objectives.
9. Analyze technology environments, enterprise specifics, and client requirements to set a collaboration design framework/architecture.
10. Provide technical leadership to the design, development, and implementation of custom solutions through thoughtful use of modern technology.
11. Define and understand current state solutions and identify improvements, options, and tradeoffs to define target state solutions.
12. Clearly articulate and sell architectural targets, recommendations, and reusable patterns and propose investment roadmaps.
13. Evaluate and recommend solutions to integrate with the overall technology ecosystem.
14. Track industry and application trends and relate these to planning current and future IT needs.
15. Provide technical and strategic inputs during the project planning phase in the form of technical architectural designs and recommendations.
16. Account mining to find opportunities in existing clients.
17. Collaborate with all relevant parties to review objectives and constraints of solutions and determine conformance with the Enterprise Architecture.
18. Identify implementation risks and potential impacts.
19. Create new revenue streams within applications as APIs that can be leveraged by clients.
20. Bring knowledge of automation in applications by embracing Agile and dev-ops principles to reduce manual parts.
21. Understand application requirements and design a standardized application.
22. Creating Intellectual Property in forms of services, patterns, models, and organizational approaches.
23. Designing patterns, best practices, and reusable applications that can be used for future references.
24. Ensure system capabilities are consumed by system components and set criteria for evaluating technical and business value in terms of Tolerate, Invest, Migrate, and Eliminate.
25. Provide a platform to create standardized tools, uniform design, and techniques to reduce costs of maintenance.
26. Coordinate input on risks, costs, and opportunities for concepts.
27. Develop customized applications for customers aligned with their needs.
28. Perform design and code reviews thoroughly on a regular basis, keeping in mind security measures.
29. Understand design and production procedures and standards to create prototypes and finished products.
30. Work closely with systems analysts, software developers, data managers, and other team members to ensure successful production of application software.
31. Offer viable solutions for various systems and architectures to different types of businesses.
32. Seamlessly integrate new and existing systems to eliminate potential problems and maintain data structure and bring value in terms of development.
33. Transform all applications into digital form and implement and evolve around mesh app and service architecture that support new technologies like IoT, blockchain, machine learning, automation, BOTS, etc.

36. Produce artefacts such as deployment architecture, interface catalogue.

42. Enable Delivery Teams by providing optimal delivery solutions/frameworks.
43. Build and maintain relationships with executives, technical leaders, product owners, peer architects, and other stakeholders to become a trusted advisor.
44. Collaborate with Enterprise Architect for translating business strategy to execution.
45. Develops and establishes relevant technical, business process, and overall support metrics (KPI/SLA) to drive results.
46. Bring value in terms of quality in development activities by leveraging cloud-based and scalable infrastructure.
47. Manage multiple projects and accurately report the status of all major assignments while adhering to all project management standards.
48. Identify technical, process, structural risks, and prepare a risk mitigation plan for all projects.
49. Ensure quality assurance of all architecture or design decisions and provide technical mitigation support to the delivery teams.
50. Recommend tools for reuse, automation for improved productivity and reduced cycle times.
51. Continuously review sessions with customers for sustainable development practices.
52. Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise framework and related artefacts.
53. Develops trust and builds effective working relationships through respectful, collaborative engagement across individual product teams.
54. Ensure architecture principles and standards are consistently applied to all projects.
55. Ensure optimal Client Engagement.
56. Support pre-sales teams while presenting the entire solution design and its principles to the client.
57. Negotiate, manage, and coordinate with client teams to ensure all requirements are met and create an impact of solution proposed.
58. Competency Building and Branding.
59. Ensure completion of necessary trainings and certifications.
60. Develop Proof of Concepts (POCs), case studies, demos, etc. for new growth areas based on market and customer research.
61. Develop and present a point of view of Wipro on application design and architecture by writing white papers, blogs, etc.
62. Attain market referencability and recognition through highest analyst rankings, client testimonials, and partner credits.
63. Be the voice of Wipro's Thought Leadership by speaking in forums (internal and external).
64. Mentor developers, designers, and Junior architects in the project for their further career development and enhancement.
65. Contribute to the architecture practice by conducting selection interviews, etc.
