Regulatory Legal Advisor

The Regulatory Legal Team is responsible for providing expert legal advice and support to Comcare's regulatory activities. This includes investigations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and criminal prosecutions for alleged contraventions of the WHS Act.

The Senior Regulatory Legal Advisor plays a critical role in supporting these investigations, inspections, and other regulatory activities. They assist with prosecutions commenced under the WHS Act and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

This role requires the successful candidate to have experience in providing investigation support and conducting prosecutions in criminal law or regulatory environments. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to manage workload effectively in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct.

Requirements:

  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory (five years or more post-admission experience is desirable).
  • Current restricted practising certificate or ability to obtain one within three months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
