Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HSES Advisor to join our team at McDermott International, Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the management and implementation of the Project Health, Safety and Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance with the CBI Management System.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project HSE Support: Provide local and domestic Project HSE support in both site-based and non-site-based roles, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and stakeholders.
  2. HSE Reviews and Submissions: Support pre-contract HSE reviews and submissions for Australian opportunities, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and submitted on time.
  3. Strategic HSE Approach: Have a forward-thinking, pragmatic, and strategic approach to HSE in execution, driving improvement initiatives and ensuring that all HSE policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant.
  4. Management Plans and Risk Assessments: Assist in the preparation of various Management Plans, Risk Assessments (HAZID, SWMS), and overall preparation of Project HSE Management Systems as part of Project pre-mobilization, mobilization, and execution phases.
  5. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Ensure that all incidents are investigated in detail and entered into the CBI Data Management System, conducting reviews of incidents, investigations, reports, inspections, audits, and site statistical data in consultation with the project Construction Manager to assist in the development of preventative strategies.
  6. HSE Hazard and Corrective Action Tracking: Manage the HSE Hazard and Corrective Action Tracking Register to ensure that all actions have been completed and are closed out.
  7. Technical Input and Coaching: Provide technical input and coaching for Project team members during the development of task-specific risk assessments, ensuring that all employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  8. Employee and Subcontractor Onboarding: Support the onboarding of employees and subcontractors through delivery of induction content, ensuring that all new hires are aware of the company's HSE policies and procedures.
  9. HSE Training Programs: Assist in the development and delivery of HSE training programs, providing in-field coaching to help further educate the workforce and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  10. Communication and Reporting: Support project teams in the development of communication material for Toolbox Meetings, attend these meetings, manage the collation and distribution of minutes of these meetings, and prepare and submit all agreed HSE reports relating to CBI and subcontractor activities.
  11. Injury Management and Return to Work: Facilitate Injury Management and Return to Work process for employees as required, ensuring that all employees receive the necessary support and resources to return to work safely and effectively.
  12. HSE Auditing and Compliance: Conduct internal HSE Auditing across Projects and Facilities, supporting the District HSE Manager in the ongoing annual recertification to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, ensuring that all HSE policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant.
Minimum Requirements
  1. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  2. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Preferred)
  3. Comprehensive Knowledge of Statutory Regulations
  4. Training in HSE Practices: Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control, HSE induction/education practices, Working at height and confined space entry, and Experience in completing incident investigation and reporting.
  5. Excellent Time Management and Prioritization Skills

  7. Interpersonal and Communication Skills
