Electrical & Instrument Technician Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrument Technician to join our Maintenance and Engineering team at the Bell Bay manufacturing site.

This is a permanent full-time position directly with Kymera International, offering a competitive salary package, 13% superannuation, and opportunities for short- and long-term bonuses. The role comes with a 9-day fortnight (every second Friday off) and a chance to work with cutting-edge automation systems in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

About the Job Description

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day electrical, instrumentation, and automation support, working closely with engineers on project development, task supervision, installation, and commissioning.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation and maintenance of electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, power outlets, switchboards, fire alarm systems, and camera systems.
  • Maintenance of automation systems and technologies, including PLC programming, industrial communications, and SCADA systems.
  • Troubleshooting complex systems to resolve breakdowns and prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Development and maintenance of a calibration register for key plant instruments.
  • Providing technical support and assistance to the maintenance and production teams as required.
  • Working with process engineers on developing and introducing data historian systems to enhance plant optimization.
  • Supervising maintenance tasks, plant shutdowns, and project work when needed.
  • Providing on-call and call-out support (average of once per month), staying within 1 hour of the site when rostered.
  • Actively promoting safety standards and working cooperatively within the team.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A Current 'A' Grade Electrical License, recognised in Australia.
  • Industry experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.
  • PLC experience (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • Certificate III in Instrumentation (or working towards completion).
  • Permanent residency or Citizenship in Australia.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pass a full pre-employment medical.
