Financial Accountant Job Description

Our client, a leading construction company, is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team on a 12-month contract in Erskine Park.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accounting integrity within the finance department, reporting to the Group Finance Manager. Key duties include:

  • Preparing accurate and timely financial accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Reconciling all accounts to the general ledger and supporting documentation, ensuring variances are identified and cleared on a regular basis
  • Monitoring and reporting of daily cash flow movement and forecasting
  • Arranging foreign currency payments
  • Administration of company loans, including balances, interest accruals, and payments
  • Preparing and managing compliance-related matters
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Annual Statutory accounts
  • Assisting with the managing of the company's internal and external audit process
  • Compiling data for the ABS surveys
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Providing support and analysis of monthly results to cost centre owners
  • Assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards
  • Backing up the Payroll Officer as a system administrator
  • Managing Fixed Assets for Australia and New Zealand
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following:

  • Degree in Accounting
  • CPA (or working towards)
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Financial Accountant
  • Knowledge of accounting standards
  • Understanding of data and its impact on the business
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
