Job Summary:
The Child Life Specialist is responsible for the overall leadership and coordination of the Child Life Services Program designed to meet the needs of all pediatric patients and families.
Key responsibilities include developing programs and services that focus on in-patient and outpatient needs, promoting community linkages and support, and ensuring a safe work environment.
Qualifications / Education:
A bachelor's degree in Child Development, Psychology, or Education is required. The successful candidate must also have completed a 480-hour internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
- Child Life certification or eligibility to sit for the Child Life exam within one year of hire is required.
- Minimum two years of experience working with children in a healthcare setting is required.
- Leadership experience is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Problem-solving, analytical, and creative thinking skills are necessary.
- Organizational skills and commitment to standards of excellence are required.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team is essential.
