Geology Team Leader Job

As a Geology Team Leader, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of underground geologists and provide mentoring while delivering technical outputs. This role involves ensuring safe implementation and completion of mine geology functions according to guidelines and policies.

About the Role

This is a site-based roster position with a permanent full-time employment type. You will be reporting to the Geology Superintendent – Prominent Hill.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise an Underground Geology team, ensuring safe and industry-best practices.
  • Provide quality and timely geological support to boost mine production.
  • Monitor development and stope grade performance, acting on variances outside acceptable limits.
  • Incorporate diamond drilling information into underground Grade Control Block Models.
  • Safely collect and maintain drill core logging data.
  • Support geology QA/QC systems and processes, ensuring accurate data management in a geological database.
  • Provide input into the generation, definition, and ranking of near mine extensional and exploration drill targets.
  • Demonstrate proactive and timely project management, delivering on timelines and summarising outcomes.
  • Offer specialised technical support to all Mine Geology team functions.
  • Assist in continual development, improvement, and documentation of UG Geology systems and processes.
Requirements
  • You should possess sound technical skills in geological and mining techniques.
  • A thorough knowledge of drill core processing systems and techniques.
  • Extensive understanding of data QA/QC processes related to sample practices, protocols, and analytical analysis.
  • Proficiency in geological and structural logging and mapping.
  • Experience in geological and 3D grade interpretation/modelling of grade control and diamond drilling data.
  • Familiarity with grade estimation techniques and block model creation.
  • Proactive in time management and autonomy.
  • Well-developed analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written.
