This exciting opportunity sits within the Core Libraries Team, which develops and maintains internal libraries and tools used by Canva's development teams. As a senior software engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the vision of Python libraries, frameworks, and tools used at Canva.

We are part of the API Platform, aiming to empower engineers to build efficient, reliable, and secure traffic flow for billions of users. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing tools and libraries to connect ML services to Canva's microservice architecture, as well as investigating production incidents and applying learning to code.

A successful candidate will possess five-plus years of commercial experience developing complex applications in Python, with a strong understanding of clean, readable, and maintainable code. Experience with other languages such as Java and TypeScript is a plus, but not necessary.

Key skills include developing or maintaining libraries, frameworks, or tools; architecting and building microservices with Python async web server frameworks; familiarity with high transaction rate, low latency messaging systems in distributed systems; and computer science and engineering fundamentals.

In return, you can expect a competitive salary range of $150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes equity packages, inclusive parental leave policy, annual Vibe & Thrive allowance, and flexible leave options.
