Job Description


This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for mechanical engineering and agriculture to join our maintenance team. As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for ensuring that preventative maintenance, services, and repairs are performed on plant, equipment, and facilities.



Responsibilities



  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance on plant, equipment, and facilities.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, checking fluid levels, rotating tyres, and greasing plant.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.
  • Prepare and update records of service work conducted and keep on top of scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Source quotes from external suppliers for parts.
  • Repair and maintain other plant and equipment as required.
  • Practical experience in general trades or agricultural settings (essential).
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with agricultural machinery and operations is an advantage.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • High level diagnostic and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.


Requirements



  • Relevant experience in agricultural work with a particular focus on servicing or maintaining brands like Christiaens, GTL, Traymaster, Thilot & Hoving Holland (Essential).
  • Good fault finding and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Highly organised, proactive, innovative, and methodical in approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated safety awareness at all times.
