Job Summary

The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled Correctional Manager, Offender Development to join our team. As a key member of our correctional services team, you will be responsible for the provision of effective supervision and improved rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Monitor the delivery of centre-based assessment, rehabilitation, psychological, pastoral care and cultural services to prisoners, ensuring that activities are consistent with the goals of an integrated offender management model and meet annual performance targets.
  • Manage Resources to ensure that case management principles and processes are applied in all prisoner management areas, ensuring that all prisoners are subject to the appropriate dosage of case management consistent with their risks and needs.
  • Contribute to Centre Safety by being an integral member of the senior management team, who engages in broader centre safety and security activities such as cell inspections, duty manager function and advice to the operational workforce when required.
  • Ensure Compliance with the Department's practices and procedures and where required facilitate implementation of new initiatives.
  • Implement and Maintain appropriate mechanisms in relation to the achievement of statutory and professional obligations to meet reporting and ethical conduct requirements.
  • Deliver Psychological Services including suicide prevention activities in accordance with best practice and agency frameworks and procedures.
  • Oversight and Engagement in the delivery of training to staff espousing contemporary offender management of prisoners.
  • Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement including supporting delivery of services and program in correctional centres by other government agencies, external contractors and volunteers.
  • Supervise and Motivate staff in the performance of their duties and ensure training and professional development opportunities are provided.
  • Provide Briefings to the Deputy General Manager and exchange of information between agencies to maximise the protection of the community in a timely manner.
  • Manage Protocols and procedures with relevant criminal justice agencies.
  • Promote Multi-Disciplinary Teams within the correctional centre to ensure the delivery of quality offender management.
  • Work with Specialist Operations to ensure centre based offender management and rehabilitation activities align with agency and professional practice frameworks.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Formal qualifications in behavioural science and/or psychology (or a related discipline) would be highly regarded.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of correctional services and offender management principles.
