Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Development Support Professional to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in out-of-home care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing hands-on support to teach life skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, homework, personal care, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualised support plans, including positive behaviour plans and progress reports
  • Assess and promote the development of our young residents, identifying areas for growth and improvement
  • Liaise and report to stakeholders, providing information and assisting with plans to ensure successful outcomes
  • Develop activity plans to promote community engagement and social networking
  • Safely support challenging behaviours using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

Requirements:

  • Current Australian Driver's Licence (must be open or P2)
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure to specific timeframes and targets
  • Availability for shift work during the week and weekends, including sleepovers as rostered
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the organisation
  • Minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent, or working towards
  • Approved Licensed Care Service (LSC) check through the department, or willingness to obtain
  • Current Blue Card, or willingness to obtain
  • Current First-Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including documentation, organisational, and reporting
  • High-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable Attributes:

  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Previous Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training
  • Completed Hope & Healing modules
  • Experience working directly with children and their families in a support capacity
  • Flexible, adaptive, and open to learning
